About Tau

Founded in 1895, the Tau Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is built on a tradition of excellence, leadership, and lifelong brotherhood. Our chapter is committed to developing men of integrity, fostering a culture of academic success, and creating a positive impact within the Carolina community. At UNC, PIKA men strive to embody the fraternity’s core values — Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen. We pride ourselves on strong campus involvement ranging from student government and club leadership to service organizations and intramural championships. Our members come from diverse backgrounds but are united by a shared dedication to bettering themselves and those around them. Philanthropy and community engagement are central to who we are. Each year, the Tau Chapter hosts major philanthropic events raising funds and awareness for our philanthropy called the Maltese Cross Fund supporting local chapel hill firefighters. Socially, we value building genuine connections not only within our brotherhood but also across the greater UNC community. Through mixers, campus events, and collaborations with other organizations, we work to create inclusive and memorable experiences for all. Above all, Pi Kappa Alpha at Carolina is more than a fraternity—it’s a lifelong network of friendship, leadership development, and personal growth. We are proud of our past, energized by our present, and committed to shaping a strong future for the Tau Chapter.
